Primark Store Opening at New Westfield Stratford City Shopping Centre
On Tuesday 13th September Advance Security personnel and a significant number of the management team congregated at the brand new Westfield Stratford City Shopping Centre.
Located at the gateway to the Olympic Park the £1.45 billion centre was officially opened by Boris Johnson, Mayor of London, and Frank Lewy, Westfield Group Chairman.
The largest urban shopping centre in Europe, Westfield Stratford City covers 1.9 million square feet and houses 250 shops, 70 places to eat, a 17-screen cinema, a casino and champagne bar, and an All Star bowling lane.
The primary function of the Advance team was to be the security presence at the launch of the Primark shop at the new centre. Occupying three floors and covering 6,224 sq m the impressive frontage at Primark had a queue of eager shoppers waiting in anticipation for the store to officially open.
Vincent Thompson, Lee Taylor, Ged Cotton and Dave Evans did an excellent job of providing security at the main entrances to the store and chatted with the excited crowd queuing outside.
Fifteen further Advance officers were stationed inside Primark ready to provide the security presence required for such an occasion. Huge thanks to Abidemi Idowu, Nasir Hussain, Arif Gill, Vladislavs Davidovics, Gilbert Chamberlain, Adeel Asamoah, Sarower Mazumder, Wasihun Mengitsu, Syed Noman, Mirza Beg, Yahya Serar, Jamir Walusimbi, Nabin Pariyar, Orville Dennis, and Ada Onyilokwu for providing a first class security service.
Once opened, the Primark store was immediately busy with eager shoppers and continued throughout the day to be a very popular shopping destination within the centre.
Further pictures will be available in the December edition of the Advance Forward.
