Advance Pandemic Plan

Two years ago Advance Security recognised the importance of having a robust continuity plan in place to combat the business impact of a flu pandemic.

The Advance Pandemic Plan takes into consideration a number of factors including the potential risks to the business, customers, suppliers, staff and their families.

The main elements of the plan include:

  • A crisis management team
  • Purchasing and storing emergency hygiene supplies
  • Training material and advice leaflets for staff
  • Reports analysing geographical impact by area
  • Ability to mobilise staff for emergency cover

Update - Friday 12th June

Based on the fact that the World Health Organisation (WHO) has now declared a global flu pandemic please find below an update on the Advance Pandemic Plan.

The declaration of a global flu pandemic does not mean that the virus is causing more severe illness or more deaths and therefore does not necessitate a change in the way it is being dealt with in the UK.

As outlined by WHO there is a need however to 'find a balance between complacency and vigilance'. In accordance with this requirement and as part of our own plan, to ensure containment, the following actions are being taken:-

Personal hygiene information has already been to sent to all staff (as detailed below) but this message will be reiterated and its importance reinforced.

Basic Flu Personal Hygiene for Advance Employees
  • Advance Security will keep you informed of any updates regarding the swine flu situation. On that basis your manager may, if required, provide you with a protective mask and gloves and will advise you when to wear them.
  • Stay away from communal areas, don't congregate in groups.
  • Cover you nose and mouth with a tissue  when you cough or sneeze - throw the tissue away after use.
  • Wash your hands with soap and water regularly, especially before eating and after coughing or sneezing.
  • Do not touch your eyes, nose or mouth with your hands.
  • Ensure you dry your hands thoroughly after washing.
  • Stay at least 1 metre away from sick people.
  • If you get the flu - consult a doctor and telephone the Control Room.

The regular (daily) cleaning of computer keyboards, phones and mobile phones will be initiated at all Advance offices together with more stringent cleaning practises.

The Pandemic Crisis team at Advance has reviewed Service Level Agreements (SLA's) and there is currently no impact on our service levels at all.

As part of our plan we will continue to monitor daily the potential impact of swine flu on our business and will communicate any changes accordingly.
